{"id":11503,"date":"2018-12-03T08:45:52","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T08:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pharmamanage.gr\/2018\/12\/03\/study-global-warming-will-increase-heat-related-death-and-disease\/"},"modified":"2024-02-01T14:09:06","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T12:09:06","slug":"study-global-warming-will-increase-heat-related-death-and-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pharmamanage.gr\/en\/study-global-warming-will-increase-heat-related-death-and-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Study &#8211; Global Warming Will Increase Heat-Related Death and Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Climate change is making more people around the world vulnerable to heat exposure, putting them at greater risk of heart and kidney disease, heat stress, and other heat-related killers, scientists warned on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Global warming\u2019s effects look most serious for ageing and urban populations and people with chronic health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>And Europe and the eastern Mediterranean are more vulnerable than Africa and southeast Asia due to many older people living in densely populated cities, the researchers said in an analysis in The Lancet medical journal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrends in the impacts of climate change, exposures and vulnerabilities show unacceptably high risk for health, now and in the future,\u201d said Hilary Graham, a professor at Britain\u2019s York University who co-led the work.<\/p>\n<p>The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change involved work from 27 academic institutions in disciplines from health to engineering to ecology, plus expertise from the United Nations and intergovernmental agencies across the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the World Health Organization (WHO), climate change affects many factors influencing health, including clean air and water, food and shelter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It estimates that between 2030 and 2050, climate change could cause an additional 250,000 deaths a year due to malnutrition, diarrhoea, malaria and heat stress.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-11501\" title=\"Study - Global Warming Will Increase Heat-Related Death and Disease - 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pharmamanage.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/images_Study_-_Global_Warming_Will_Increase_Heat-Related_Death_and_Disease.png\" alt=\"Study Global Warming Will Increase Heat Related Death and Disease\" width=\"100%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pharmamanage.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/images_Study_-_Global_Warming_Will_Increase_Heat-Related_Death_and_Disease.png 555w, https:\/\/www.pharmamanage.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/images_Study_-_Global_Warming_Will_Increase_Heat-Related_Death_and_Disease-300x238.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The report found that in 2017, some 157 million vulnerable people were exposed to heatwaves.
